PPT, short for PowerPoint, is widely
used for presentation in all walks of life. With the help of PPT, we are able
to deliver a more wonderful and vivid presentation with colorful pictures,
visual and convincing tables and graphics, beautiful music and lively videos as
well, which will be much easier to drive audience’s attention.
When preparing a presentation with PPT, you will
find it easy to add script, pictures, table and graphics, and even audio, but
you have to pay attention when inserting videos due to the video incompatible
issue. PPT supports ASF, AVI, MP4, M4V, MPG, SWF, MOV, WMV on video side and
MP3, AIFF, WAV, MID, M4A, WMA on audio side. You can find SWF format in the
support list. So, why do you still need to learn how to insert SWF into PPT since it supports SWF format? As we know, SWF
is a Flash file format. You are unable to play SWF videos in PPT if you haven’t
got the Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer and registered the
ActiveX control.
If you haven’t had it installed, you can download from
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. If you have installed Adobe Flash Player on the computer or Mac,
you can directly insert SWF into PPT. See the below steps.
Step1. When you get to the
slide where you are inserting a SWF video, click the Developer tab and then click
the More Controls button. You can find the Shockwave Flash Object in the More
Controls window.
Step2. Select Shockwave Flash Object and you will
find the cursor turns to crosshairs. (Drag the rectangle to a larger one so as
to display the entire SWF picture)
Step3. Right click on the flash
object and then click Properties to enter. And then click the Alphabetic tab.
After that, go to Movie next to which you need to type the entire full pathname
of the SWF file.
Tips:
1. You need to
set Playing to True if you want the SWF to be played automatically when the PPT
slide is displayed.
2. Set Loop to
True if you want to loop SWF playback as the slide displays.
3. Set EmbedMovie
to True if you want to embed the SWF to PPT file.
4. If you are
using PPT 2007, you should know flash files are linked to the PPT slide.
Therefore, Shockwave object’s EmbedMovie property doesn’t work. And in PPT
2007, the Playing property reverts to False when you close and re-open the PPT.
However, though you can insert SWF files into PPT directly
on your computer or Mac, what if you need to play the PPT on another computer
and Mac without Flash Player? In case of this situation, we suggest you convert
SWF to PPT supported format and
insert the converted file into PPT. You can turn to a third party- conversion
program, to convert SWF to PPT supported formats like MP4, MOV, MPG, ASF, AVI,
WMV, etc using SWF to PPT Converter.
By this way, you don’t have to worry about whether the computers/Mac has Adobe
Flash Player installed or not.
